“Hemorrhagic blood loss from traumatic injury is the leading cause of death in severe accidents and combat injuries. Treating and stopping blood loss in a timely and effective manner is essential for the survival of the patient… To determine the effect of fibrinogen on blood coagulation, 100 μL of Human Whole Blood (Innovative Research, Novi, MI) was first mixed with 10 μL of 0.1 M CaCl2 to counteract the effects of the anticoagulant heparin.”
