  • 1998

    Innovative Research opens

    Innovative Research is founded to address a gap in the biotech industry by offering biologicals and blood products in convenient, small working aliquots, moving beyond the traditional bulk-only sales model.

  • 2007

    Moving headquarters to a new facility

    After building a state-of-the-art laboratory and facility, Innovative Research moves its headquarters to Novi, MI.

  • 2020

    Hiring our first salesperson

    Innovative Research hires David Schmitz as the company’s first salesperson operating in the West Coast Region.

  • 2021

    Acquiring Molecular Innovations

    In 2021, Innovative Research acquired Molecular Innovations, strengthening a 20-year partnership to enhance collaboration and expand expertise in coagulation and thrombolysis. This merger enables new product development and reinforces Innovative Research’s commitment to delivering reliable reagents worldwide.

    Innovative Research’s first CEO

    In 2019, Donna Schelby joined Innovative Research as VP of Operations, bringing her background in media and business management. By 2021, her leadership helped drive the company’s first acquisition, merging with Molecular Innovations. Later that year, Donna was appointed CEO, with a continued commitment to advancing customer-focused innovation and growth.

    Innovative Research celebrates 25 years in the industry in May of 2024.

    Launching our new brand and website

    In late 2024, Innovative Research unveils a refreshed brand identity with a new logo and launches a modern, redesigned website.

    I’m Duane Day, co-founder and president of Innovative Research, a biotech company driven by curiosity and a passion for exploring the unknown. I’m always questioning boundaries and seeking practical solutions to complex problems, with a particular interest in the intersection of biology and artificial intelligence, where exciting new possibilities emerge.

    Vice President, Special Projects and Portfolio

    With experience spanning drug formulation, clinical diagnostics, device development, and regulatory, Steve joined the Innovative Research team in 2021. On the weekends, he can usually be found doing home renovations or spending time with family.

    I joined Innovative Research as the VP of Sales and Marketing in 2022. Previously, I worked as a Senior Director of Marketing at the American Chemical Society. On the weekends I enjoy tending to my flock of chickens, and hanging out with family and friends.
